Scrotal swelling (left) with pain - epididymitis?

Post a new topicby JohnCalvin on Sat Nov 24, 2007 1:51 pm

I started experiencing scrotal pain and swelling about 10 days ago. As soon as I saw the swelling I went straight to my GP and he put me on a generic anti-biotic. I finished this course, but the symptoms remained the same whereafter I went to a urologist He put me on the original anti-biotic. Tests were also done (ultrasound) to rule out tumours, kidney stones and hernias. I do have two cysts, one on each testicle, as well as a very slight (Grade 1) varicocele but the doctor assured me that this could not be responsible for my pain and swelling. He also did not recommend any operation. My question is, how long should this recovery from epididymitis take? I just took the last anti-biotic pill today and there is still significant swelling - almost unchanged! The pain has subsided a lot, but it is still uncomfortable - feels like I'm walking with a third testicle! Also, the swelling completely subsides at night while I sleep, but once the day begins and I walk around or especially when I sit, the swelling starts all over again.

Can someone please advise?
