Severe pain in right testicle

Post a new topicby Tylersn7 on Wed Oct 17, 2007 12:55 pm

I'm 19 years old and have been experiencing this pain off and on for literally years now. It seems like it's more common now that it used to be. It usually starts when I'm walking around alot. When I was in the 7th grade it used to really hurt while I was walking around the track during P.E. Now it's starting to really interfere with my life and I don't know what to do. It's like a severe pain in my right testicle that actually travels up to around a little below and alot to the right of my belly button. It's like something like a tube that travels from my right nut to around my abdomen is in serious pain. My right nut is always more sensitive than my left. I practially never have probelms with my left. We went to six flags this summer and the pain was so intense that I couldn't walk around anymore and we had to leave. It hurts so badly that it actually makes me nauseated when it hurts and i'm walking while it hurts. I saw a urologist about it and he said it wasn't a big deal and that i probably had some urine stuck in a tube or something. He told me to take ibuprofen for inflamation and apply heat. The utlrasound came back fine as well. One thing that I find different about my case versus others that I've read is that the pain comes and goes. If I lay down or sit for a while it'll subside and doesn't hurt as bad. It hurt when I woke up this morning, though not as intense as normal...and now that i've been sitting for an hour it's okay. Does this situation sound familiar at all to anyone? Oh and I dont have an STD or anything like that either. I'm considering letting them cut me open and see what's wrong, but I'm worried that when they do they wont find anything because sometimes it hurts and other times it doesn't.

If you allow them to cut into ur testicle u will lose it. The testicles are so complex with nerves and such that they will do damage. My bf has the same problem & has had all the tests known to man performed on him & he is still suffering. Read my reply in Epididymitis/ Orchitis - Peer to Peer...Need help badly. Good luck!

I have EXACTLY the same in my left testicle to a very bit above it. Driving me nuts!! Comes and goes, very moderate, but new. I'm 46, in good shape, with no medical issues at all- Is a urologist the right doc to see with this? How much is a CT scan? I have no insurance. No changes in urination or sex at all. I am the worlds biggest hypocondriac though. I don't drink/eat any less water or food, I poke, probe and pull and can find nothing.
Thanks for any help? Do I need a phycologist?
Ken

Kenokken-
No you don't need a psychologist. A urologist is the right doctor to see, and as far as a CAT scan I would suggest u get one along with a ultrasound, that's what my boyfriend's doctor did. Actually he has had MANY ultrasounds! Looks like ur in the same boat as my bf and many other men with this condition. He is in perfect health, 25 yrs old, no medical issues except this one. The number one important thing I want to tell you is don't give up hope on this issue & seriously press ur urologist to do every test that they can to get to the bottom of this. My bf is seeing a family doctor as well and has even seen a another urologists for a second opinion (he also checked his prostate). Even tho he is only 25, he checked his prostate and said it was inflamed..???? When I asked the doctor what would cause this at such an early age, he said "Bad luck?!" Not the answers we are looking for, but none the less but him on a 3 month script of antibiotics to help with the prostate & advised sitz baths (sitting in warm to hot water for 15-20 minutes twice daily). My bf even had a colonoscopy to check for poylps in the rectum as a possible cause of testicular pain, the results were as expected, clean bill of health. our next plan of attack for this is a possible mesh slippage, due to past inguinal hernia repair. I have read numerous health papers on this happening to men and the mesh (if that is what was used) slips and rubs/irritates an nerve located near by that can cause pain in the testicles. I'm trying to keep things as "laymen" as possible here :) As far as you not having insurance, I seriously suggest that u pick up a personal policy, you are seriously going to need it! My bf had to do the same,it costs him $150 a month, but I can tell you between the co-pays & prescriptions it is still costly. But then again you can't put a price on health right? CAT scans & everything else to get to the root of the problem can be very expensive. I will leave a few key words you might want to google to try and find out what exactly is going on with your case, but please know that the sooner you get on this the better my friend. See a urologist in ur area as soon as possible, and let him/her know that ur not fooling around here you want to be aggressive in finding out what is wrong, otherwise you may here what we have been hearing..."Your next step is pain management or the possible removal of a testicle" By the way that really pisses me off to hear a "specialist" say that! Since they don't really understand how the testicles work and any exploratory surgery would cause damage, therefor you lose a testicle.....pfftt! And another thing, how do they really know that the removal of the testicle that is causing pain would in fact get you out of the pain ur in? What if they remove the testicle & ur still in pain? Sorry, venting my thoughts here about my bf's current situation, I feel so badly for him & the pain he is in. No matter what the final outcome I will stay by his side, that's what love is all about! Anyways, back on topic..here are some words to google.....
1)orchitis
2)epididymitis
3)Hydrocele
4)Spermatocele

I will add more later, also you might get a blood work up to rule out the possibility of any STD's. I know what ur thinking...but it's always good to know no matter what u think u may know, they did the same thing on my bf. Best of luck to you! Keep me posted & I will do the same! :) Read my reply in Epididymitis/ Orchitis - Peer to Peer...Need help badly. Good luck!

Thank You SO MUCH! I'm going to see a urologist on Monday. Once I get an evaluation - I'll go from there. That being said - the pain is almost gone, and things are "back to normal" but I'm still going. I'll post what I learn here for others.

That's gr8! I'm glad that ur pain is going away, all i can say is that ur very lucky! As for my boyfriend, he is still in pain. We just went to the family doctor who has been the best by far at trying to determine what the problem might be. As for the last visit, they are going to do a CT scan of the pelvis region to see if it is a possible mesh slippage issue, or scar tissue. Also, she suggested going to OSU, she is going to see exactly what they need to get him in there & make sure that it gets done! She has been the greatest! It's nice to know that someone really cares about finding out what is wrong. So, as far as that goes, I will keep everyone/anyone who cares posted as to what is coming our way.

Kenokken- Looking forward to learn what you are told in ur case. Best of luck to you!

P.S. His results for his nuclear testicular scan & ultrasound came back, and of course everything looks fine on paper. *Sighs*...We'll get to the bottom of it. :) OSU here we come!!!!!

OK - Here is what happened. The Doc pushed, probed and pulled, and checked for enlarged prostrate. Nothing hurt worse than normal. He diagnosed it as an inflammed spermaziod (?) track from the prostrate to the left testicle. He put me on Nopraxin, a anti inflammatory for 2 weeks. No sex for one week and no activity that could hurt that area. After 2 weeks the pain has subsided by about 90% and the pain when I ejaculate is much less. He is having me do a PSA and Testosterone test which those results should be back this week.
At this point all is OK pending reslts of those tests.

Well at least you are out of pain...ok 90% right? Hmm this is something to think about for my boyfriend! He has been referred to OSU in March because at this point none of the doctors know what is going on with him. a scary thought I know! Haha..to think that the experts don't have the slightest clue! So, with that said, hopefully the guys at OSU will be able to figure out what the hell is going on. I will post the results of our findings once we go in March. Best of luck to ya Ken, keep me posted on ur results too. I am going to mention to the doctors what ur doctor prescribed for you & compare. Thanks for the reply! :)

Update-
Once the 2 weeks of nopraxin ended, the pain came right back. Doc put me on it for anoher 2 weeks. PSA test came - and was so low that he said wait until I'm 50 to do it again (I'm 46). Testosterone was fine too. Other than "I must have strained soemthing deep inside and it is inflammed and will take time to heal" - I'm back to square one.
Arggg....

Hmmm....that doesn't seem right, not to scare you or anything. Btw, my bf, is going to OSU in March. We finally got the "OK". They send you to the University when ur little pond of doctors doesn't know what is wrong or how to help you. So, we are keeping our fingers crossed, & praying for a miracle here. This is the end of the road for us. If they can't fix him, then I guess no one can :( My advise to you....get a second opinion, he had to get 3.If we had stopped at the 1st doctor who told him that nothing is wrong (this office visit took all but 5 minutes, pissed me off boy) he wouldn't have gotten some relief. It's ur body & ur dealing with the pain. Make them listen! Sooner or later someone will. :) Best of luck to ya! I'll keep ya posted about OSU
