Two reasons for Testicular painMy name is Barry and I have just turned 40 last week. My experience with Testicular pain started about 20 years ago.
At the age of 20 I had my first case of Epididymitis (very painful), after the antibiotics I could feel a small hard bump on my left testicle which did not hurt at all. I had it checked through an ultrasound and it turned out to be Testicular Cancer My left testical was removed followed by a couple of months of Chemo I have suffered from what I thought was only Epididymitis a couple times annually. But have just recently been diagnosed with Varicocele Varicoele is common on left testicle but not so much on the right. Lets be honest, no one talks about Testicular pain. I never heard about Testicular cancer nor was I ever told to routinely check them. If you have Teenage boys, talk to them about it. These problems happen between 15-35 years old, Teens are shy about this stuff and they can't be!!! If you are diagnosed with Cancer, plow through the treatment. Success rate is very high but it all depends on the stage (I had tumors in my lymph nods). Surgery just hurts where the insicion is made (mostly muscle), no pain in the testical area. Chemo is like being car sick for long periods of time. Lots of needles, X-rays, and CT scans. But hey wha'ts the alternative??? Eat well, rest, walk, and laugh and everything will be fine. My Doctors decided not to remove my lymph nods, which makes having kids doubtful. Seven years after my Chemo I had two healthy children. The ball is in your court.
Re: Two reasons for Testicular painBarry,
This is my 1st visit to this site & I was very relieved to see the great input -like you said, testicular pain is not something you sit around the coffee room & talk about. I'm 63 & have had BPH for 10 yrs. but my only experience w/pain in the groin area has been due to an inflamation or infection of the prostate - I've always just taken an antibiotic a few wks. & that takes care of that - Therefore, having pain coming from my testicle area is all new to me (I told my urologist that it felt like someone had kicked me in the crotch). He reflected 2 things on my receipt for payment: varicocele and hydrocele. I try to follow a holistic aproach to medical matters (as much as possible). Having said that, I am currently ending a 14 day regiman of the antibiotic bactrim ds - I assume to knock out any possible inflamation or infection. I'm still experiencing pain but not as intense or quite as frequent at present. Does this condition go away for periods of time (subside for awhile) because I have been losing sleep. Are there things we can do to lessen these conditions? Will exercise (like swimming) help lessen the pain from these conditions? I'm not overweight (6'-165), I don't smoke or drink, I very seldom eat red meat & I eat chicken maybe 3-4 times a month, and try to maintain a healthy diet. My PSA is very low (0.6 as of 3 wks. ago) so I've been really surprised re:this "new condition". Are there certain foods, herbs or supplements, etc. that would be good to take that you know of? Thanks, Barry, & I appreciate any input back from you (or anyone else experiencing these conditions). Here's hoping our condition improves. Take care!
