Experiences with testosterone therapy ... self-administered

I'm a healthy 45 yr old male, and a few years back, I had read an article stating the loss of testosterone in males after age 35, and became concerned I might be in that group, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and do something about it. Hadn't really noticed any changes, but was worried a bit that things could start to change, and I wasn't having that. I'm not into taking medicines unnecessarily, and prefer to treat things homeopathically if at all possible, and found this homeopathic glandular liquid called "Male Support", which is readily available over the counter in any well-stocked health-food store, as well as even some supermarkets with health-care/vitamin areas in them. One takes it sublingually up to 3 times daily, 14 drops at a time, and it is based on bulls testicles, and bulls prostate glandulars. My experiences with it were this, after being on it for a few months, and combined with taking DHEA on a daily basis, which also affect testosterone levels and production, there was a marked coarsening, thickening, of all body hair, arm, under-arms, legs, pubes, etc, and hair growing in places I hadn't had it before, it was like going thru a 2nd puberty, I was loving it to be honest, felt very virile and male, and also noticed some increase in sex-drive, but I really dont have a problem in that area, and that isn't why I was doing it either, it was more preventative from my point of view. Then came the down-side, after being on it close to a year, and having all this new body-hair growth, etc, my family-members and a few friends said they noticed a change in me at times, that I was becoming more aggressive and snapping at things, which I by nature am not and usually don't, though none of them knew I was taking these things. Well, needless to say, I took what they all had to say to heart, and stopped taking both the DHEA and the "Male Support", and after about a month or so, my family members and friends said they noticed I wasn't as aggressive anymore, nor as quick to 'snap' at things, so I knew it was the combination of these 2 things probably, that was causing a change in my personality, as I have now read that raised testosterone levels, can cause aggressive behavior in certain men. So a word to the wise, when it comes to testosterone therapies, go to your doctor or urologist first, speak with him about your options, and if you then choose to pursue it, have it done professionally and monitored accordingly.
