Post a new topicby nicklumen on Mon Nov 17, 2008 1:48 am

58 yr old who noticed rapid drop in erection ability at age 55. Taking testosterone injections weekly for 6 weeks now and notice little change. What can I expect ?

Testosterone injections are at their highest after 2 days so if you haven't had any improvements you need to talk to your doctor. How low was your testosterone when you started? What is it now including your free testosterone? What is your Estradoil? If that is high that may be your problem. If your doctor doesn't know why, you may need to try another one. Good luck.

Not much info here but I'm in the same boat. I'm 56 and just started injections once evry 3 weeks. After 10 weeks my doctor will take my free t blood test too see how it is working. He is an Endo and with that info it makes me think it may take a while before the body will be showing what's it is supposed to. How low was your T? Mine was 323 with free T 55. In the low normal but I started having erection problems like 5 months before that. After 11 days I feel no difference but on day 5 & 6 I did have improvement but just for that 2 or 3 days. I am hopeful next injection will be better and last longer. Good luck to both of us!!! I did call my nurse and she said that I may see changes in three weeks !?!?

You need to have your T level monitored to be in the 700 range or so for several months if necessary. That's a puzzler about the blood level being up very quickly but not the symptoms improved. Apparently it takes extra time for the T to actually reach the tissues, not just the blood stream. So, in short, it may not mean much if the blood level is good for a brief time...give it some months, possibly even six months.

But if you stop taking it or miss often, you'll probably not get the help you want.

It would help enormously if you could report the DOSAGE, as well as the frequency, of the injections. Hard to have any ideas without enough info.
Thanks, Macbook

It can take 4 to 8 weeks, and sometimes longer, for the blood level to trigger the action to the tissues.
