Recently diagnosed - unique situation

Post a new topicby motivatedvet on Thu Aug 28, 2008 8:27 pm

Hello to all in the group. I was very recently diagnosed with low testosterone (came in at 216) and I'm in between doctors visits with my primary and with an endocrinologist. In the meantime I have a lot of questions. My situation is that I am a Veteran and am in the process of going back into the service at the age of 40. To make the situation even more difficult, I'm supposed to be going back into a unit that would require me to be in excellent physical condition.

I mainly have three questions which are as follows:

1. Is there anyone out there who has been diagnosed with a similarly low level of testosterone that has not been on testosterone replacement and is in what they would consider much better than average shape?

2. Does anyone know if a low testosterone level in and of itself is enough to disqualify you for military service?

3. Of all the causes of low testosterone levels, are any of them correctable?

If anyone has any answers to these...even vague ones...I'd be very interested to hear your answers because I have a career at stake in all of this. Hope to hear from some of you!

Thanks
