Testosterone level

Post a new topicby HonestAbe on Thu Jan 22, 2009 12:28 am

I'm 72 years old. Several years ago I noticed my sex drive dropping. When I spoke to my doctor, he prescribed testosterone shots. I take .25cc to .30cc once a week. My doctor said that he prefers the level to be in the mid-range of 350 to 720. However, that level doesn't really increase my sex drive at all. I still have low sex drive compared to 10 or 20 years ago, so I had my testosterone level checked over a three day period. The first day was a Wednesday afternoon. That evening my wife gave me my weekly shot. I had another blood draw the next afternoon (Thursday) and again the following afternoon (Friday). When the reports came back, the Wednesday blood draw showed a testosterone level of 694. Thursday's was up to 800 and Friday's was 1015.

My question is, Are there any dangers associated with a testosterone level that high? Also, are there factors other than testosterone level that can affect sex drive?
