1 year post bladder sling surgery

Post a new topicby lala7 on Sat Dec 08, 2007 4:25 pm

Hello. I had bladder sling surgery a year ago and still seem to have some complications from it. I frequently (at least every other month) spasms that seem to shut my bladder down. Meaning I am unable to void on my own. This can last up to a week or so causing me to self cath. myself and this is very frustrating. I have been taking detrol everyday for over a year now. My doctor says they are spasms and just to continue taking the medication.
These "spasms" seem to occur after sexual intercourse and most time feel as though I have a UTI, I have been treated many times with antibiotics, thinking I had a UTI but it came back negative? During the course the treating on the antibiotics my symptoms dissapear. My question is coud it be a bacterial infection due to sexual intercourse? If it is not a UTI could it be a bacterial infection somewhere else? Has anyone else experienced this? I am contemplating having the sling removed in hopes this may stop the problem as it is severly effecting sexual intimacy and my marriage.
