Aged 20 with urge incontinence. Help!

Post a new topicby sara20 on Sat Mar 07, 2009 10:58 am

I have always had minor problems with bladder control and I have always had the occasional night where I have wet the bed, but a couple of months ago I completely wet myself for seemingly no reason and the next week the same thing happened and it became much more frequent. So last month I visited the doctors and she suspects I have urge incontinence. I am only 20 and I'm finding this really upsetting and its just making my condition worse, I haven't had a dry night all week. I haven't had any kids and I can't think why this is happening! At the moment I am going through bladder training but I'm finding it really difficult, I have a timetable but I'm finding it so hard to stick to, trying not to go to the toilet is just causing more accidents. My doctor said she wants me to try oxybutin but I really don't want to be on medication. Could anyone give me any advice?

Thanks.

If you are comfortable with wearing adult diapers that might be a solution. They are less intrusive than one thinks. I have been wearing them for one year. Try this placehttp://www.ionmeds.com/Adult%20Diapers%20Home.htm I have been getting my adult diapers there for years. Don't be ashamed. Hope that this helps

I advise to stick to the bladder training!!!!! Pelvic floor exercises as well can be helpful in strengthening the muscles. Oxybutynin is a drug I've tried (no success for me, although you have a much lighter issue than me) but unless you want SEVERE dry mouth i would stick to bladder training.
double voiding, and the old fashioned techniques of limiting fluid intake before bedtime, and sitting on the toilet until you pass urine before going to bed.

Good luck, don't worry though. Stick to the plan and you'll be right as rain soon enough.
