bladder sling surgery?

Post a new topicby armywife on Thu Jan 10, 2008 10:40 pm

Hello! I am 47 years old and have been seriously considering surgery for urge incontinence. I'm really glad I found this forum because it doesn't sound like it works too well at all. Not only that, it sounds as if it often causes more problems than before. I haven't read any positive posts regarding this procedure. Has anyone out there had positive results from this treatment?

I was suffering from stress incontinence which began several years after my total hysterectomy. I finally had my bladder sling surgery and it completely changed my life! NO MORE BLADDER PADS!
I bought "No Bladder Pad" panties (and a thong!!). Best thing I ever did, and it was the simplest and least inconvenient of all the surgeries I've had in my lifetime. In & out in a hurry and with the exception of a temporary uti, it was all over with and life returned to normal. I had an incredible doctor and the whole thing was a breeze. I highly recommend having this done. Any slightly unpleasant or inconvenient thing you might have to deal with is so much better than wetting yourself!
Hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck! Lisa

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am to have this surgery in less than 3 weeks and have been thinking about reconsidering. I haven't found any positive posts until yours. I want to be rid of the incontinence but am afraid that things will get worse.

Hi Armywife, I am new to this post and to this site, but through my reading I found this post . I wanted to respond to your looking for a positive post on bladder sling surgery. I had it done 3 yrs ago and I can tell you it was the BEST thing I ever had done. Prior to that I had no control!! I was wearing pads to keep dry. And I did not need pads I had a hysrectomy no need in pads but because of the leakage I had no choice.. Now dry as can be and LOVE it.. if the leakage was to start I would for sure have it done again. Not that I need to worry about it, but my doctor said it's alway's a possibility but not likely...I am truly happy with my decision to have this done. Wish you all the best. Good luck in your decision.

Hi

I think the most important thing is care after the surgery. I had the sling and it helped a lot. It has not helped as much as I would have liked. It has really helped with the urgency but not as much with the incontinence.
