number of collagen injections?I recently recieved my 3rd collagen injection within 6 months. After the first 2 I had about a 60% reduction in wetness, but it only lasted 3 months. After the last one I am having only limited results. Do you think it would be advantagous to keep trying with additional treatments? I have ISD,and cystocele, but additonally a spastic urethrea, and atonic bladder which really complicates the whole matter. Thanks!
Re: number of collagen injections? Many women with ISD require more than three collagen injections, but their durability is typically short-lived, as in your case. A sling-type procedure is often the best plan with ISD, and may be a better choice in your situation. The atonic bladder complicates the matter, and makes the likelihood of needing intermittent self catheterization post-op quite high.
Seeing an expert in female incontinence should get you the individual evaluation and guidance you deserve. They are usually on the faculty of the major medical schools/clinics. Re: Re: number of collagen injections?I understand the collagen injections have a limited time, but I was hoping for longer than 3 months. Has your experience shown longer lasting results with more treatments, or can I expect 3 months as the usual. I am very wary of having to self cath after a sling as my urethra is very sensitive and bleeds with repeated cathing along with lots of pain. (I have even tried small caths and lidocaine jelly). I will try and get another eval at a major medical center before I make any more decisions. Thanks!

Re: Re: Re: number of collagen injections? Some collagen outcomes have lasted for a couple of years, but several months has been more typical, in my experience.
