Re: post op problems after sling surgeryI had the cystocele and rectocele repair in July 2007. The cystocele was done using a sling. I am very unhappy with my results. My husband and I couldn't have sex for 4 months per the doctor. Now when we try it is so painful, it's almost unbearable. I also am leaking on myself more than I ever did before. I have to wear a pad all the time now.
I had the repair done 30 years ago (not the sling procedure) and that repair was the best thing I ever had done and lasted 30 years. I wish I had asked for it to be done the old fashioned way this time. I feel this surgery was useless.
Re: post op problems after sling surgeryI am a 67 year old male who had the sling operation a month ago. I am worse off now then before.
I can't walk or sit without pain and mostly in the back of my legs near the groin area from what ever was used to strap my legs down. I'm back to wearing a clip because my leakage is worse. Very depressing.
Re: post op problems after sling surgeryI am a 67 year old male who after prostrate surgery have been using a clip due to incontinence. I use a MIC (male incontinence clamp) which is pretty adequate and comfortable although I have learned to live with occasional accidents when I push myself. I play tennis, do long hunting trips, dance and will take on extensive work projects. I am considering a sling operation. Specifically a Virtue Male Sling by Coloplast Corp. It is a new elastic sling that not only supports but applies pressure where it is needed. What sling did you have installed?
As far as getting on and being active I double up. My most secure rigging is a MIC clamp, a small pad and a jock strap. The clip takes care of most everything, the pad is security in the case it is not convenient to get to a bathroom and the jock strap holds everything in place for comfort. I have one friend who has crawled into a hole and won't even go fishing with me because of his embarrassed of incontinence. I can't do that and am somewhat open with my situation. People understand and I have never been embarrassed by anyone although at times I still get uncomfortable. Such is life and I am still having fun. I just am not as carefree as I once was. Good luck. Re: post op problems after sling surgeryI had a sling put in 6 weeks ago, and I am having more problems than before I had the sling put in. The first week I was great, then the next weeks I got worst and worst. I am up to using two or more pads a day. The nurse said it takes time....how much time does it take. I am getting worst not better.
Re: post op problems after sling surgeryThanks for the information. What kind of sling, brand name, was the sling? I am considering a sling after trying 3 collagen injections with no help and thought the next best solution would be a sling. There is a fairly new sling on the market that is elastic in quality and seems to work well on men. They are doing a study and are looking for volunteers to be a part of the study. A person needs to be between a level 2 and 4 of stress incontinence.
