s/p tah and sling procedure

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Dec 14, 2002 2:51 pm

I am a RN, though unfamiliar with all the urologic surgical information. I am 10 days post-op from a TAH/transvaginal sling. Following the procedure I had to be recathed and was unable to urinate and was sent home with the foley on Thursday. Took it out at home on Monday. I had a half decent flow but felt I was emptying. Suddenly the last couple of days I have been having problems, and seem to need to keegle to get a flow going.

Now, I'm a healthcare professional, but I really don't want to have surgery again (he said if there was a problem that would be the course of action). So I put off calling him. I had to call today because it's getting more difficult to urinate and he told me I may need a "dilitation" and that's all. I'm wondering exactly what that is. Is this going to be painful? Dilitation of what?? Detruser muscle, urethra? And is this an in office procedure or surgery? I hope I can obtain some answers.

By the way, I did restart my detrol XL 10 mg po qd.

Thanks.
