Standing urgency

Post a new topicby Guest on Thu Aug 01, 2002 2:51 pm

Hi,
I can be sitting and get up to answer the door (for example) and all of a sudden I have an agonizing urge to go to the bathroom.
Prior to getting up, I have no urge whatsoever, but the minute I stand up, I have to.
Also whenever I have a catheter for, say pelvic surgery, I have bladder spasms (they say) and beg them to take out the catheter because I feel like the catheter is not working and I have to hold my urine.
I'm just wondering if these two things could be related. I don't think so. I just can't figure out why I would have to go to the bathroom just because I stand up.

Thanks so much!

Such positional urinary urgency is common and might be due to an Overactive Bladder (as well as other possibilities).
Seeing a urologist should get you the correct reason for such symptoms as well as get you some helpful medication.

Cystocele

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Sep 10, 2002 10:50 am

Hi i am going to a urologist because I believeI have cytocele. What exactly is it and what is the procedure they would do to determine whether I do have this and what is the treatment for it. I am scheduled for a Urodynamics study in about a week because of a little leakage but I feel I have more of a problem not being able to empty my bladder rather than loss of urine.I don't want to have this procedure if there is a less aggressive one. What do you recomend?.

A significant cystocele is easily seen on physical exam, and not typically the only reason for complicated incontinence.
The urodynamic testing should determine how well the bladder functions and empties as well as help the urologist uncover the reason for the leaking.
