Urinary Tract Infection

I am 80 years old and i am having my second urine infection for the first time in my life. I saw my dr. And she gave me two types of prescriptions that did not help. I remembered my mother telling my sister to put one tea spoon of ginger in 1/2 a glass of warm water the pain was gone in 45 minutes. It has been 4 days and the pain is still gone. Iam seeing the dr. To find out why i am having this infliction all of a sudden.
