Getting worseI came down with UTI symptoms on Monday evening. Waited to see if I could treat it myself until Wed. Saw primary care doctor on Wed., who prescribed cipro. By Sat., I was still strung out so I went to urologist -- last time I had one i had to see a specialist to get rid of it. Looking at my chart, he said, Cipro didn't work last time, Bactrim did. Without benefit of a culture he switched me mid-stream.
My symptoms have worsened. What now? Day two of Bactrim and I'm not ANY better. Advice anyone? Thanks, Signed, Can't live like this...
Re: Getting worsewell, now they say after a culture, nothing was wrong. but the burning persists. . . tried monastat and that made it worse.
Re: Getting worsewent back as i guess i now have some form if IC. Great. Bactrim expedited this for me. Unbelievable.
they gave me utira-C. Another drug that does nothing. I should have stayed at home since I'm worse than when I started.
Re: Getting worseUPDATE: The utira-c has kicked in and symptoms seem to have abated. Will see if I make it through the night w/o waking.
Re: Getting worseno rest for the weary. going on two weeks of chronic urination. it seems my bladder is allergic to urine.
Re: Getting worsewell, i think i need to view another forum: interstitial cystitis. that may have been the misdiagnosis or the antibiotitc mixup brought it on! ahhhhhhhh.
Re: Getting worseSorry I didn't see this sooner, I hope that you still get this post. Have you tried looking at any natural methods to rid yourself of your symptoms at all? I've been using 'Waterfall D-Mannose' for a while now and have since then been UTI free. It sounds like you'd really benefit from it too. It flushes the bacteria out of your body when you pee, since they attach to it instead of the mannose that is naturally present in your body. Tempting as it may be, don't drink cranberry juice as this actually aggravates 95% of UTI causing bacteria, and whilst you may feel better initially, you'll actually cause the bacteria to grow at double their normal rate in the longer scale of things. Also if you can try to stay off the Ciprofloxacan, it can cause lots of long term issues (huge damage to bones/joints etc.) and if you read up about it, you'll find that one of the KNOWN side effects is "Death on first dose!". Dirty stuff I think.
I hope that this helps you out and wish you well as soon as possible. Chiyaki.
Re: Getting worseDear chiyaki,
I'm going to look into your suggestion! It has been a month now and guess what they finally found the culprit culture and I guess I'm on my third go around w/ the correct antibiotic. Will keep you posted.
Moving forwardThat's great news, I really hope that it works as well for you as it did and still does for me. I'd love to hear how you're getting along with it.
Chiyaki.
Re: Getting worseI also have a re-occuring uti. Born with exstrophy of the bladder and limited kidney function, it seems to be that the infections have worsened.
Infection resistant to most drugs but somewhat staving off with macrobid. Pain still constant as are some of the symptoms. The minute I miss a pill there is significant reflux into the kidneys Would like any herbal suggestions. Has anyone tried or had success with uva ursi? At a loss:(
