LOTS of UTI'sI'm 28 years old in a relationship with the same man for the last year. I've always been suseptible to UTI's (usually two a year over the last 12 years or so). The problem is that in the last 10 months we've been together I've had 8 UTI's. My Gyno thought it had something to do with how often we have intercourse (at least once a day but can be up to 5 times a day), but now I'm not so sure. I've always emptied my bladder before and after intercourse, washed myself after intercourse, wiped from front to back, urinated 6-8 times a day, all the things they tell you to do to keep the bacteria away. At first my gyno treated each occurance trying different antibiotics for different periods of time. Then after my last one he put me on a low-dose daily antibiotic (don't remember the name - it's at home) which seemed to help. I did not get a UTI for almost 2 months. On Sunday I ran out of the antibiotic and couldn't get to the pharmacy to refill it until Wednesday. Well, needless to say Tuesday night I was in pain with yet another UTI The difference this time is that we hadn't had sex in 3 days due to schedule changes. I'm going crazy here. Is there something else that could be wrong with me that can cause the UTI's?
Re: LOTS of UTI'sHave you ever had your urine cultured? (sent to the lab to make sure you're on the right antibiotics)
Re: LOTS of UTI'syes, they culture the urine every time
Re: LOTS of UTI'shi, over the past 2 years i have suffered with uti's. I get the infection then i go to my doctors and get antibiotics, i take the tablets for 7days then about a week later the infection comes back.
I have been to my doctors so many times, been refered to hospital and its been investigated but know one seems to know what the cause is. Im gettin really fed up and its getting me down now, im 21 and have been with the same person for 2years and im pregnant which is more worrying as i keep gettin this infection. Im just wondering if uve sorted urs out yet or had any more advice? Thanks
Re: LOTS of UTI'sNo, unfortunately I have not had mine sorted out. My doctor wants me to see a urologist and have tests done but I don't have the time. For now he has me on a daily dose of 50 mg of Nitrofurantoin. It seems to be keeping them away.
