My 14 yr old daughter is constantly having UTI....My 14 yr old daughter is constantly having UTI. When we go to her regular Dr. he prescribes antibiotics. After the 4th UTI in a 4 month periode, I was finally told that her culture showed no growing bacteria and that she may need to see a spacialist. I was also told that her uretha may need to be streched, to be sure the bladder is empting. After being on a long term antibiotic and drinking nothing but water and cranberry juice she went for about 3 months with no infection. Now with in the past six weeks she has had 2 episodes. I have made an appointment with a Urologist and will be taking her in about a week. I have been told and read that the streching of the uretha is very painful. My daughter is only 14, she has never had a female exam or been examed down there. I am trying to find out what I need to talk to her about, what kind of test we might expect and what are the other reasons she is keeping a UTI if there is no bacteria?
Thank You.
Re: My 14 yr old daughter is constantly having UTI....I'm not really sure what sorts of test the urologist will give her.... aside from an ultrasound....
(try this website)....http://www.stjohnsmercy.org/healthinfo/test/urology/default.asp But I wouldn't jump to any conclusions of stretching anything yet.... Does she do the recommended wipe from back to front, no bubble baths and all that? Have you looked into Overactive Bladder? Perscribing too many antibiotics without finding the cause will result in her becoming immune to the antibiotics... so a urologist is best no matter how uncomfortable for her..... My prayers are with you both....
