VCUG on 5 yr old girl after 1 UTI

Post a new topicby kaieeky on Fri Oct 03, 2008 10:38 pm

y post is similar to the one I just read but after being a aptient with 3 kids for 13 yrs I am told if we opt not to do the test we may be dismissed from the practice. I am just concerned of the invasiveness. If she continued to have them I would by all means have the test. Does anyone know where I can find the american academy of pediatrics guidlines for this? I was told by my dr. that they recommend the test after 1 UTI Help!

I made the previous post. My 7 1/2 yr. old son had 1 UTI. I refused the VCUG and had an ultrasound yesterday, convinced everything would be fine. The ultrasound showed hydronephrosis in both kidneys and a dilated ureter. We now must wait 2 weeks for a VCUG. My pediatrician did not have a strong opinion but just kept referring me to the urologist. I would make an appointment with the urologist to discuss everything and then make a decision. I would at least consent to the ultrasound and promise to follow up with the VCUG if that showed something. Good luck.
