IVP ResultsCould someone help with these results, I don't go back for a follow up until October 1st.
Reviewed images following an IV dose of Omnipaque 350 mL demonstrated satisfactory visualization of the collecting systems bilaterally. The left renal pelvis is prominent. Otherwise the calyces of both kidneys are well demarcated. There are no filling defects. The bladder filled well with impress from the prostate inferiorly. The margins of the bladder were otherwise smooth. A post-void film demonstrated a small amount of residual contrast. IMPRESSION: 1. PROMINENCE OF THE LEFT RENAL PELVIS. 2. FINDINGS CONSISTENT WITH PROSTATIC HYPERTROPHY WITH PARTIAL OUTLET OBSTRUCTION
Re: IVP ResultsThe prominence is nothing to worry about. The residual, left over contrast in your bladder, indicates a degree of obstruction from the prostate, usually from an enlarged prostate, good luck
Re: IVP Resultsdefinitely the digital rectal exam is only good for feeling areas of hardness or bumps that could represent cancer. It is a poor way to determine size. Also you can have a small prostate that is obstructing as well as a large one which is not obstructing. A urodynamic exam should be able to tell if you have an obstruction or not.
