urethra reconstruction operationHey everyone. I suffer from a urethra with a rescrited opening, which makes it difficult for me to urinate and completley empty my bladder, which has resulted in urinary infections and urine backing up into my bladder. I've had operations before to reconstruct my urethra, but they have resulted in scar tissue and haven't fully fixed the problem.
i am going to be scheduling another operation with my urologist to fix the problem, but i have been given two options: 1. totally reconstruct my urethra. this involves removing a piece of skin from inside my mouth to use as the donor skin for the urethra. my doctor has given me a 88% success rate for this procedure. the downsides to this procedure are that it is more painful, has a month long recovery period, and requires a catheter to be inserted up my penis during recovery. OR 2. re-route my urethra to an artificial exit behind my scrotum. the upside of this procedure is the higher success rate of 98%, and a less painful, quicker recovery. i would still be able to get an erection and ejaculate, however, i have some questions about urinating from an artificial exit, and i would like to know if any of you have had this procedure or performed it so i have some idea. like what kind of muscle control can i have from such an exit? can i expect urinary leakage to be more or less as opposed to having my urethra reconstructed? and generally i would like to know what you people think is a better option. thanks alot
