What does this medical term mean?

Post a new topicby Gisèle on Wed Oct 17, 2007 3:56 am

During a cystoscopy, this was noted: "a lot of amorphous material jetting out of kidneys prior to the retrograde pyelogram."
What is amorphous material and why would it come out of my kidneys? I don't have any infection at all and no chance of kidney stones As far as I know, there isn't anything wrong with my kidneys. Although I have been having some minor flank pain. Could it be a sign of inflammation? A sign of kidney disease? Also, there was a little bit of protein that showed up on a urinalysis.

It could be sediment, crystals or possible cells hat have sloughed. It could represent inflammation but not necessarily, it is usually a benign finding.
