Pelvic organ prolapse...

Post a new topicby sandycheeks on Tue Mar 31, 2009 12:32 pm

Can pelvic organ prolapse affect periods? I have not been diagnosed with POP, but I suspect I have something along the lines of it. I have a great deal of the symptoms, but I am wondering...can this affect your period? My periods are regular (as in they come the same time every month) but for the last year or so I have had more clots than before, and at times will flow for one day, virtually nothing the next, then flow the next day, etc. This month my flow was next to nothing. My cervix *seems* to curve in one direction more so, where it used to be straight...is this something alarming, and could this be altering my flow, cause it to build up in there?

I have noticed almost the EXACT same symptoms over the past 6 months or so. I think my period is over a bit early and, hello, there is it again. It also seems as though my uterus is tilting more as it slips further down the vagina. (agh!) My most recent period was completely out of whack and I was also worrying if there was menstrual fluid build-up. My periods weren't any more painful than usual, just more uncomfortable since I can't use tampons anymore. Since the opening of my cervix never turned so far as to completely seal itself off with the walls of my vagina, I didn't worry too much. But it certainly made for an uncomfortable week at the beach! I would keep a close eye on it and RUSH to the doc if it seems that your tilted uterus/cervix seals off (if that it possible).
