vaginal vault prolapse

Post a new topicby chicky on Fri Jan 02, 2009 10:32 pm

I am 70, and I had a complete hysterectomy at 42. A few years ago I noticed my vaginal wall protruding slightly, from my vagina. It seems to be getting worse, I mentioned it to my pcp, and she agreed that it was weak muscles, and added that she didn't want to see me have "that" surgery. Should I see another doctor? Is there help for me?

Yes - I would recommend an evaluation by a urologist with special training in "Female Urology" or a gynecologist with specialized training as a "urogynecologist". There are many surgical and non-surgical options available. Once a complete evaluation by one of the above doctors is completed you can decide what is the best approach for you.

My daughter, 32, has a vaginal vault prolapse with the bowel entering the vaginal canal through what has been called a window near the Vaginal Cuff. How serious is this? She has no insurance and is getting the run around at our local "non profit" hospital. She is in constant pain, sometimes she can tolerate it other times the pain is stabbing and she cries. What options does she have medically? I know that sight unseen this is a difficult question to answer, but we have nowhere else to turn. This is a very sad thought that the only avenue for answers to a major concern like this is the internet.

Please respond!
