Erectile Dysfunction

Post a new topicby DonSway on Wed Dec 26, 2007 12:07 pm

Does anybody know if having bilateral varicocele can cause you to lose your erection during sex? I am 24 years old never had a problem with erection, but as soon as this pain began I had it checked with an ultrasound, and I have noticed during sex I can not maintain all the time, during masturbation I can keep myself erect but if I quit touching it I lose it fast, anybody have any idea if this is connected to to the varicocele at all? Maybe the bloodflow is being affected somehow?? Any ideas please help!

I too had bilateral varicocele .... I had the microsurgery to have it repaired .... Most docs do not beleive that there is a connection .... I totally disagree .... My Testosterone was what I consider low and normal by what the docs said .... I had seen 4 .... Now that I have had the surgery I feel better and with the help of cialis I am able to "perform" .... But before the surgery .... I had the exact same issue .... HArd to keep it up in the moment .... but alone not very hard and fading fast without touching ....

i read your article and have been having erection problems too. I have had embolization done. I am only 26 years old. Does cialis still work for you? I saw the date you wrote the article and was curious how old you were and also if you get tired easily. Also do you now if your testosterone levels are normal. Please help.

I am 31 years old. I had varicocele embolization, but after 3 months the symptoms are still there, and the worst problem is related to my erection. I am not sure whether it's erectile dysfunction exactly, because I have my hardness but the pain caused by varicocele unables me to maintain the erection as before. So the "cause" here is different than anything else causing erectile dysfunction and hence it should be treated differently. I think it's the pain and the unusual blood pressure in the penis that affects the erection and also makes me reach the orgasm quickly. Symptoms of erectile dysfunction and also premature ejaculation seem to be present, but the mere cause of both is my varicocele. That being said, I believe using any medication for boosting my libido is of no use and might even cause more problems, because the "cause" is still there. Doctors seem not to take this problem seriously, and seems there is not much academic research on varicocele. But I am certain this seemingly simple disease hugely affects one's sexual life in a very negative way.
By the way I am trying to have another operation, maybe repeating the embolization, or whatever the doctors find best. I will keep any progress posted here.

"Doctors seem not to take this problem seriously, and seems there is not much academic research on varicocele."

I really agree with this. It's so frustrating when your doctor is pretty much saying, "Just live with the pain."
