I had surgery last Thursday (4/10) and have been wearing boxers since then but everywhere I have read online said to wear briefs or a jock strap for additional support. My doctor never informed me of this. How important is it to wear briefs, and has this week of wearing boxers done any damage to me?

It wont do any damage to use boxers, it will just hurt more when you move around. My doc had suggested to use briefs or jockstrap to ease the pain in the beginning. I used my boxers as well, its really up to you and how much pain you can handle.
