Varicocele and Fertility

Post a new topicby beaver24 on Tue Dec 16, 2008 1:39 pm

Hello,
I just went to the Dr. and was told I have a varicocele ..I had an outpatient surgery years ago, I'd say when I was 13-14 years old for this same problem. The doctor told me that it won't go away, and I could go see a Urologist if needed, or if it gets worse. I'm single and want to have children, but not sure if I will be able to...Also, if I would not go to the doctor (I'm not in any pain, and can only feel a slight discomfort when Masturbating), would I be harming myself in anyway?
Are there lasting affects, or could this turn into something more serious (i.e. fatal, cancer?)

Thanks

Hello,

I was diagnosed with varicocele about 2 years ago, i'm 21 now. I have not yet went for my fertility test to find out how fertile I actually am!!! It's most common on the left side and you can hardly notice it on the right but after investigation I found out that eventually the left testicle will shrink away and it could spread to the right. I am pretty sure it will not turn into anything fatal its just hard to live with not being very confident with the girls because you dont know what they're gonna think!!!

I have also recently become single after a long relationship, but I do want to have my own kids one day and just hope I can!!

thanks
