Vasectomy Reversal

Hi All,

I was wondering how often you do the deed up to O time considering our hubbies' sperm reserves? My nurse thought that we should wait until the day of O, but I've heard otherwise elsewhere. This is our first month ttc since the reversal. His reversal was 17 years out and he is 50 and I'm 29. Also, any success stories similar to mine would be great!

Unfortunately I do not have any answers to your questions, however, I am in a very similar situation to you. My partner is 45 and I am 29. He had a vasectomy 18 years ago and we are about to have it reversed. Was your partners reversal successful? Is there any more you could tell me about the experience?

Hi Risa,

I don't know how much research you've done, but it's really important to have a very good Dr. to perform the surgery. We went with one in Omaha, NE. From what I can tell, it seems like it went well. The Dr. mentioned that there was a lot of build up, but he did his best. My hubby said the surgery wasn't too bad and he has healed nicely. Seems like he was uncomfortable for about 3 weeks, but he's back to his old self now. We are just entering the first cycle of trying. I should ovulate in a week. We go back to the Dr. on Friday for a follow up on the surgery, then we will schedule a semen analysis in a couple months. So, I guess at this point we don't know if it worked, but we have high hopes!! We're hoping I just get preggo this first month out!! :) Not likely, but a girl can wish, right?

I belong to another message board on babycenter.com that has a lot of ladies who discuss their VR and trying to conceive. They have a lot of good info on there.
