recovery troublemy husband just had a reversal done on sept. 19 and still has major swelling and pain. he has been put on a heavy dose of antibiotics but he can't even sleep through the night due to the pain. he takes ibuprofen and tylenol with coedine every four hours. it is starting to get a little bit better today but does anyone know if this will hinder the chances of the reversal working. it looks so big and sore and there is pus at the incision site.
Re: recovery troubleIf he has an active infection it could breakdown the repair. Does he have fevers.Has his urologist actually examined him, if he/she hasn't they probable should. Good luck
Re: recovery troublehe has seen a doctor. his cbc was 11.4 and was told that means an infection is brewing. the swelling is more on one side and more at the top. he has pain and burning when urinating but has only been taking the antibiotics for 24 hrs. he is icing and having sitz baths is there anything else he can do? thank you for responding.
Re: recovery troubleSounds like you are doing all the right things, Good luck
Re: recovery troublehello again. this is now day 12 of recovery and my husband was showing signs of improvement. well one side is only sore if touched but the other side is still very sore big and hard. he goes back to the urologist on friday oct. 5 but should he see a doctor sooner. the painful side is where the ultrasound showed either a hematoma or an abcess and he is still taking antibiotics cefaclor 500mg 3x a day. ice seems to help a little but he still takes pain killers around the clock. his testicle isn't huge but still very big and very sore and hard up top. the pain also goes into above his pubic bone. is this just healing still, should we wait until friday or seek help once again sooner
Re: recovery troubleHard to know without examing him. If he is not having fevers then he probable is okay. However if you are concerned and things are not improving then request a sooner appointment
