Considering a vascetomy

Post a new topicby ttukes on Thu Sep 20, 2007 6:07 pm

I am considering a vascetomy but I am scared. I do not want to become impotent afterwards or have any major changes w/ my body, such as increase in weight. I am interested in hearing from men that had the procedure done for over 2yrs or wives of men that had the procedure. I am married and the doctors say that a tubiligation is worse but we know many that had it done. On the other hand, we know no one that has a vascetomy. Also if anyone can tell me anywhere else I could get actual stories or even talk w/ people, we would truly appreciate help.

A vasectomy will not cause you to become impotent, it won't change your ejaculation or volume of ejaculation since the testicles only supply the sperm and the fluid comes from the prostate ans seminal vesicles. There will be no body changes your testosterone level will not change. It is much simpler than a tubal ligation and has a better success rate, good luck

Thank you Urodoc for your reply. I am not sure if that is a creen name or are you an actual urodoc, can you let me know. I am totally new to this site. I have read some other peoples statements on another site that i found yesterday and a couple of men stated that they were having some erectile dysfunction problems after the fact. I realize that it could be mental or even another contributor but now I am really apprehensive. Have you had it done or do you know people that has had it done for a long period of time and there effects. Also I seen some statements where men complained about pain after ejaculation and just pain for years, what is that likelihood.

If you click on the icon next to my name you will see I am a physician and in fact a Urologist. So I see plenty of men pre and post vasectomy, As with any thing there will be a small % of people who will attribute their problems to something else like a surgery or car accident, etc. this same small minority tends to be very vocal especially on the internet. I am not saying vasectomy is risk free but the risk is small, much less than for your wife having a tubal ligation. There is no reason except pshycological that a vasectomy could cause ED.
