joint pain

Post a new topicby blb on Thu Dec 18, 2008 11:00 pm

I have just completed my 4th BCG have recently has severe pain in my left wrist. I was on my way to having the 5th treatment when I asked the nurse-she wanted to talk to the doctor before giving my 5th treatment. Has anyone else experienced this, the pain is unbearable - I am wearing a brace just to keep it still. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks Bobbi

Hi. I have had 15 bcg treatments in the last year and 11 months and have not had joint pain. Bcg only causes a reaction in the bladder accorrding to my Doctor. If the cancer has spread the immune respones dosen't work. So I think You have something else going on, maybe repeditive stress disorder.

Thank you for responding to my question. I also have conjuctivitis in both of my eyes. I did go to my primary doc and he too thought it was related to the treatment. Since my 2nd treatment I have had joint stiffness about the third day only lasting for a short time. I have read on different sites that these two things have been reported as side effects in other patients. After all of your treatments do you have any side effects? Thanks for your time

Hi. After all my bcg treatments besides a few times having bladder spasms and discomfort peeing on the day of treatment, I get a feeling of flu like symtomes in the abdominal area, a general achy feeling for the three weeks.

Well since I read your e-mail - the joint pain has stayed in my left wrist, now settled in my right knee, and 2 days later settled in my left knee. The pain is unbearable I just can't help feel that there is some type of connected to the treatments - I am meeting with my primary care doc today and hopefully with my urologist I am having a hard time walking and I just need some answers or direction. blb

I am very sorry to hear that - Keep your chin up there is still alot of options out there.
I am waiting on test results, however they discontinued the bcg treatments for now.
Keep me informed - blb

So after a few days now is the pain subsiding any? I am having the tumor out on January 13th in his office it is small enough. I had the very agressive fast growing tumor the first time so reacurrance was very likely. Now for me this raises the questions, did the bcg work and slow the return for almost 2 years? Did it prevent the growth of other tumors? Or did it not work? There is probablely no way to know but for me one question always leads to others.

Hi blb
Glad to here your pain is better. My surgery went well it was a noncancerous a growth caused by the bcg. So monday 2-3 I start another booster set of bcg treatments.
