Kidney Stone And Groin Pain - Need Some Advice Please

Post a new topicby manu on Sun Aug 17, 2008 8:58 am

I've had a kidney stone in my left kidney for the past year which gives me a dull ache in my left back and a slight feeling of nausea...

But, I'm now getting a dull aching pain in my groin, in the perineum area to be precise!

My question is... can my kidney stone be causing this dull ache in my groin or do I have something else to worry about?

Many thanks in advance!

It has been told to me that stones in the kidney dont cause any pain. If they dont move or cause obstruction then a urologist will rule out your pain even if you read that flank pain usually has something to do with the kidneys. Have you had any tests done? Before your urologist rules out kidney stones make sure they do all the tests, first. Depends on if you have a good urologist who doesnt give you the brush off to find out what's wrong.

I have had constant flank pain and my doctors have never believed me. I have gone back and forth to my regular MD and he in turn sends me back to urology. If he rules out urological ask him what it might be. I good caring doctor would do all tests possible then could make suggestions when its out of their medical expertise.

Had I not communicated with my urologists none of my treatment would have been done. I havent had much like convincing my doctors that I have constant flank pain.Good luck I hope they find out what's wrong.

Not a doctor - just guessing here - I had a pain in my back for two years. Had two doctors say not to worry about it - then I had a kidney stone attack and knew why I'd had pain in the back for two years - not pain but a dull ache.

My guess with you is you may have had one come loose and it's stuck somewhere but typically when they cut loose you know it - the pain is extruciating.

If I were you - I'd see a doc.

Classic kidney stone pain is located in the flank, and can result in shooting pain down to the groin (testicular pain in men, pain the the labia in women). Perineal pain could be a symptom of prostatitis--I'd recommend you revisit your urologist.
